When to start your renewal
Begin around six to eight weeks before your anniversary. That gives time to check the current question set, fix any drift, and complete the Plus audit if you hold that level.
What usually changes in a year
- New devices added without being enrolled in management
- Operating systems or apps that have fallen out of support
- New cloud services adopted without MFA
- Staff changes leaving old accounts active
- Updates to the scheme's requirements and question set
Making compliance continuous
The cheapest renewal is one where nothing has slipped. Managed patching, device management, endpoint protection and regular account reviews keep you in line all year. We can run these for you, so recertification becomes routine.
How Forever Systems helps you get certified
Most organisations fail Cyber Essentials for the same handful of reasons: unsupported operating systems left in scope, missing multi-factor authentication on cloud services, default passwords on routers, and patches that sit for weeks. We find those gaps before an assessor does.
- Readiness review of your devices, cloud services, firewalls and user accounts against the current question set
- Remediation: patching, configuration hardening, MFA roll-out, firewall changes and device management with tools such as Microsoft Intune
- Support through assessment with an IASME-licensed certification body, for both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus
- Staying compliant all year, so renewal is a formality rather than a scramble
Forever Systems Ltd is an IT and cyber security provider; we prepare you for certification and work alongside a licensed certification body, which issues the certificate.

What happens if my Cyber Essentials lapses?
You should stop presenting yourself as certified until you recertify, and some contracts may require a current certificate at all times.
Do I have to use the same certification body to renew?
No. You can use any IASME-licensed certification body for your renewal.
